In 2023, we bought a beautiful property in New Jersey, excited to begin a new chapter in our lives. However, not long after we settled in, a series of heavy summer rains wreaked havoc on the entire area, knocking out the power facilities. Returning from a trip, we found ourselves frustrated, stuck in a wet basement with no power. Although our house was equipped with a generator, no one had been there to start it when the outage occurred.

As we sat there, soaked and powerless, I began thinking about how great it would be to have an emergency power supply connected to the water pump—something that could automatically kick in, even if we weren’t home. I started searching for solutions in the market and found three options. The first was to install a costly whole-house power generator system with automatic start capabilities.The second was to replace our water pump system with a backup that used a 12V battery as a power source. The third option was to purchase batteries and inverters and assemble a custom emergency power supply system to provide 120V backup power for the existing water pump. After weighing the pros and cons, I opted for the third option as it was both affordable and quick to implement.

However, one day, my son noticed the scattered batteries, inverters, and tangled wires in the basement. “Dad, why don’t you use a box to put them all together? It doesn’t look safe like this,” he suggested. His words struck a chord with me. If we were facing this issue, it was likely that many other American families—especially those with basements—were facing it too. Why not create something to help them solve this problem?

And so, the idea for the Pump Partner was born. We envisioned a device that would eliminate the need to start a generator outdoors on a rainy day, reduce the hassle of frequently changing batteries and oil, and offer peace of mind when you’re away from home. Most importantly, it would allow more families to protect their homes safely and at a lower cost. From that moment on, we dedicated ourselves to designing and perfecting this product, bringing the Pump Partner to life.
